Your Travel Guide For Cozumel, Mexico

A 34-mile long island just off the east coast of Mexico, Cozumel is precisely the kind of place you picture in your mind when you think of an idyllic beach vacation. There are plenty of beaches and great places to stay, eat, drink, and dance. However, it’s also a much wilder location than many others in the country, with great swathes of the island undeveloped with dense jungles and untamed coasts. Here, we’re going to look at how you prepare for your island adventure.

Getting there

For you lovers of cheap travel, then the variety of ways to get to the island is going to be a joy. It might be a surprise to find that plenty of airports have regular flights to and from Cozumel, including Atlanta, Charlotte, and Dallas. Besides flying, you can also get there by sea. Not only is the island a popular cruise ship destination but there are regular ferries from Playa del Carmen, as well, a nearby resort town on the coast facing it.

What to do

If you’re looking for a more active vacation spot, then you’ve found it. Lovers all things underwater will be glad to hear there are plenty of top snorkeling spots, with coral reefs, colorful fish, and even underwater caves for the more adventurous. The beaches are a prime spot for both partying and water sports, as well.

What to see

However, Cozumel’s real worth is in the sheer amount of different tours and sights to try out. First of all, it’s an archaeological treasure. The San Gervasio Mayan Archaeological site is tucked in a wildlife refuge, with several buildings from that ancient empire still standing. For those who prefer something a little tamer, the local Museum of Cozumel is worth a visit as well, with plenty of Mayan artifacts as well as flora and fauna exhibitions.

Staying healthy

A traveler should always be prepared for the risks of their chosen destination and nowhere is risk-free. If you’re exploring the wilds on a tour or simply walking far from where you’re staying, you need to make sure you have access to care. In case of an emergency, there is an air ambulance company located on the island of Cozumel Mexico. The sun will be your greatest foe, so make sure you cover your skin appropriately and use sunscreen. Lastly, invest in bottled water since safe drinking water from the tap is hard to find.

Safety questions

A lot of people have concerns about crime when venturing into Mexico, but Cozumel is relatively safe. There’s nowhere near the level of violent or cartel-related crime as you would see closer to the border. However, it’s still unwise to be out alone at night or on the beach, and you should always be mindful of your possessions. Hurricanes are an infrequent but serious risk to safety, so make sure you check the forecasts before booking your trip.

Cozumel is not the average tourist destination. There’s a lot more adventure to be found for those willing to explore, but you should remember to keep safety first in mind above all else.

Have a pizza party

Ok, we can all agree that having some warm, fulfilling food when it’s cold outside is the best antidote to those winter blues, and the good news is that you won’t have to go out and buy ingredients, or even leave the house, to get the best cuisine in town. With modern technology comes a new world of food, so check out some of the best meal prep services on https://budgetboost.co/best-meal-prep-home-delivery-service-review/ if you don’t want to move from the couch to get the best ingredients. Yes please!

Try some new recipes

Winter is the perfect time to try out that new recipe you’ve been thinking about for a while. There are plenty of winter warmers to try your hand at if you’re looking to make something delicious for your family, so don’t fret when it comes to what you could cook up. Not only will you have a great time making it, but your family and friends will love to do the taste test afterwards. Win-win!

Get creative

Ok, so not all of these are food-based, we promise. You can also spend some of your spare time in winter making some new home interiors, if you want to bring a new lease of life to your home and exercise your creativity. You can make your own cushion covers if you want to change up your living room or bedroom, and this cheap and easy idea could really make a difference in your house. Everybody will be asking where you got them from, and you’ll have a great, and unique, item.

Check out some new series

Winter is the perfect time to catch up on some Netflix series, or start binge-watching something new. Game of Thrones is perfect to set the winter mood, but there are so many new and exciting things to watch, you won’t be able to choose. Get the family together, get some popcorn, and get into some interesting TV. Losing yourself in a different world is a perfect way to get rid of those winter blues, and if you don’t fancy a series, you can always go with a classic Christmas film (we love The Grinch).

So, there are many ways to have a great time this winter, without having to leave the comfort of your home. Get yourself a fluffy throw, and your freshly made winter food, and watch something amazing with your family and friends. Have fun!

Family Time!

I’ve been trying to find some ways to spend more quality time with my boys as a family. On my husband’s days off we usually do Charlie’s favorite thing, get ice-cream and go to the park. The park is fun, but I would like to have a variety thing to do while daddy is home with us. I found some great ideas Charlie may enjoy doing as a family and especially on days when daddy can join us. Some of these could easily become family traditions for us. Charlie looks forward to spending time with daddy on his days off, so I know he will enjoy doing any of these just as long as daddy is there to play with him.

  1. Go camping and let him pick out the snacks and games
  2. Take him to his favorite restaurant then laser tag
  3. Build a paper boat and let it sail in the pound
  4. Go see a movie at the theater
  5. Pajama party. Eat junk food and stay up late watching a movie in your jammies.
  6. Find a local park or pond where you can go fishing.
  7. After dark, head outside with binoculars and look at the stars
  8. Have a water gun battle in the backyard.
  9. Pack a picnic lunch and walk the trail at the park
  10. Pick out his favorite toy or something to build and go home and play with it together
