Home Made Paint

My boys love to paint and do anything that involves getting messy. So I thought it was so awesome when I came across this recipe to make homemade paint. How awesome it that? I’ll never have to buy kids pain again! I can also make whatever color I want when I want. This paint dries so fast I don’t have to worry about the kids coming back to touch it later and getting dirty again.

Here is what you will need:

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Ziplock bags
  • Scissors

What to do:

  • Blend 1/2 cup of flour with 1/2 cup of salt. Add 1/2 cup of water…
  • and mix until smooth
  • Divide it up into three sandwich bags and add a few drops of liquid watercolor or food coloring to each bag.

Squish them up until it is all mixed pretty good. We had to add a little more water because ours came out a little too thick. We put the paint into Ziplock bags, it made it a lot easier for the kids. I cut the corners off the ziplock bags and let the kids squeeze the paint mixture into your squeeze bottle.

The boys had so much fun making their own paint!

I’ve got to let the kids make some of these this summer. They’d spend every day painting if I let them. Paint isn’t cheap when you go through as much as I do. I think this is a great way to save some money.
